Product Description

Divine GuidanceFor as long as I can remember I have had a love for “Old World” relics and reliquaries.  There is something romantic about these time-worn pieces that touch my heart, and make me wonder what stories they could tell.

The designer in me is passionate about being able to replicate historical objects of art while using my own design aesthetic.  I am so looking forward to traveling this journey and to share this beautiful project.

We will design and build a beautiful dimensional reliquary  ~ while using a bronze, or silver-plated filigree casted reproduction piece.  You may choose to feature the included casted Madonna and Child inside, or you may choose to be inspired to feature your own beautiful element.  I always finish the back of my designs, and this piece is no exception!  I will instruct and share my finishing techniques. Such a glorious and divine rosary requires a beautiful and ornate cross.  We will forge and solder, and securely add beautiful embellishments to each cross that will be unique in design to dangle below your Reliquary!!

  • Students will work with a Soldering Iron.
  • Students will learn how to create a dimensional reliquary box to feature a replica Madonna and Child.
  • Students will learn how to seal the backside of their reliquary box using decorative metal and imagery.
  • Students will learn how to shape, manipulate, forge and work-harden wire to create the bail and connector.
  • Students will learn to securely attach embellishments while soldering.
  • Students will learn how to create and solder a beautifully ornate cross.

Debby Anderson is a self-taught jewelry designer who works out of her home studio in San Francisco, California. Debby began her design career approximately 6 years ago with the creation of her jewelry business, Romancing the Bling.

Debby’s beautiful, ornate and handcrafted jewelry has been published in the prestigious Jewelry Affaire magazine and has also been featured on the nationally televised Today Show.

Vintage Romance by Debby Anderson is her product line which sold in Michaels Stores. Debby teaches jewelry workshops in the San Francisco Bay Area and within the US. Her intricate and distinctly feminine designs are influenced by the various time periods ranging from the Renaissance era through the Art Deco era. Debby’s designs incorporate religious icons, whimsical French collages, inspirational quotes and sparkling beads and stunning rhinestones. Most jewelry components begin as objects found at flea markets, antique shops or rummage sales. These vintage pieces are then repurposed by altering the finish, adding paint, deconstructing or combining the pieces in unique configurations. All of Debby’s creations are original and developed organically without sketches or the use of computer-aided design programs. Each piece takes on its own identity as Debby works through each step of her designs, therefore telling a continuous story with sophisticated elegance. Her designs are never complete until the back is as pretty as the front.
