BABE! 2010 - Artist Demos

Each year BABE! showcases technique demonstrations throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday.

Many of the demonstrations such as “Anodizing Titanium and Niobium” or how to dome and piece a metal blank to make a locker will interest even the very technical viewer – including bead husbands!

The demonstrations will be at the back of the room – under the balloons! PA announcements will introduce each event.

	Saturday - 12:00 Groovy Wire Wrap	Karen Nan Varela
	An easy way to wrap glass beads.
	Saturday - 12:45 How to Create a Polymer Leaf	Klew
	Klew will demo the steps in the construction of her fabulous leaves!
	Saturday - 1:30 Anodizing Titanium and Niobium for Jewelry Components	Joyce Chadderdon, Choyce Creations
	Demonstration of anodizing titanium and niobium (which are both hypo-allergenic metals) with electric current to achieve a rainbow array of colors (including bronze which looks great with the new Bronze and Copper Metal Clays)
	Saturday - 2:15 Wet Felting – an Acorn or Bead	Naoko Nojiri
	Find out how easy it is to wet felt a bead for making an acorn or for a necklace.
	Saturday - 3:00 Nine-Strand Kumihimo Necklace	Nora Farnsworth of Sonoran Beads
	Learn to weave boro teardrop beads and nylon ribbon into a beautiful kumihimo necklace.
	Saturday - 3:45 Fast & Easy Viking Knit Tool	Stephanie Eddy
	A new tool that makes starting, working on and ending a Viking Knit chain a snap!
	Saturday - 4:30 Steampunk Dragonfly Pendant	Christi Friesen of CF Originals
	Come and watch - Christi Friesen will be demonstrating how she makes a dragonfly with steampunk accents (the steampunk look is hot stuff right now!) If you've never played with polymer clay, this is a great chance to see what all the fuss is about! And if you're familiar with the medium, it's a great chance to ask questions and pick up some new tricks.
	Sunday - 11:30 Hand-Stamped Locket Pendant	Kate Richbourg, Beaducation
	Learn to make a simple hand-stamped pendant that swings open to reveal a message inside. The demo will include how to use design and letter stamps, how to dome blanks and punch holes to form a locket pendant.
	Sunday - 12:15 Knotted Bead Tassel	Gretchen Schueller, Piece of Mind
	Learn how to make a beaded tassel using C-Lon cord for all of your amazing beads at the center of a show stopping necklace.
	Sunday - 1:30 How to Make Ear Wires and an S-Clasp	Anne Mitchell
	See how to make two different types of ear wires and a “sweet little” S-clasp.
	Sunday - 2:15 Kumihimo Braiding	Karen DeSousa
	Kumihimo is the Japanese art of braiding. While perfect for making jewelry and showing off that special focal bead, kumihimo can also be used to embellish quilts, accent your home and make a fashion statement. Braids can be as simple or as complex as you want. This demo will demonstrate how to make a basic round braid and the different looks that can be achieved

	How to create a polymer clay focal piece using mixed media and humor.
	Sunday - 3:45 New Technique for Bead Crochet	StudioDax, sponsored by Beaded Bliss
